What Customers Say About Razer Lycosa Programmable Backlit Gaming Keyboard:

Programable too. I've been typing for years but still can't reliably find the number keys (for instance) without giving the keyboard a looksee. Wrist rest is removeable. Anyone computing in the dark will love this keyboard. The lighted keyboard comes in very handy.

The keyboard has two different elevation angles: one flat against the desk and one that is slightly raised (less so than on my older keyboard). The other cables are only used to utilize the extra ports on the keyboard itself. This keyboard has met and exceeded my expectations. I'd recommend leaving the light on at all times as the letters are very hard to see without it. I'd just recommend leaving those unplugged though (unless keyboard ports are personally a lot more convenient), as I imagine your USB transfer speeds would be less than a direct port into your computer would offer. The Lycosa keyboard has a very sleek appearance and has a pretty small footprint as well; great for those with limited desk space. Fortunately, my experience has been great thus far.Setup was a breeze; I just plugged it in and it worked without any drivers (nevertheless, I subsequently installed the CD drivers just to be safe). buttons), but this is really a minor concern and the touch pad is perfectly adequate.Maybe the back-light and touch pad issues have been resolved in the product line (I did notice that most of the negative reviews were older ones). They are also more similar to laptop keys than traditional desktop computer keys in that they don't depress as much.

Personally, I would prefer a matte surface that is easy to keep clean, but I knew what I was buying. I was a little wary purchasing this keyboard, as it had quite a few negative reviews. In fact, I've tried to find a viewing angle that makes the keys unreadable, but the back-light is sufficient even when viewing parallel to the keyboard. The back-light is not too bright either; it shouldn't be distracting at night. Many customers mentioned the media control touch pad was not responsive as well. It seems like a good compromise to me; very responsive. The laser-etched keys with blue back-light make typing day or night a breeze.

They are not as shallow as the keys on certain Mac keyboards though. Nevertheless, I'd still prefer a more tactile feedback (i.e. Only time will tell if it lasts; I will update my review if anything unexpected happens. Maybe it just took a minute for the keyboard to 'boot up' properly. As such, it may take a while to get accustomed to if you are used to typing with a raised keyboard. While when first plugging the keyboard in, touch functionality was spotty, it cleared up after a minute or two and has worked perfectly since. The keyboard has 2 USB cords, a 3.5mm audio, and mic cable to plug into your computer, but only the one USB is required.

I have not had the issue that others have had with the light not being bright enough. They are somewhat rubberized and offer a good grip. The majority of the body is reflective plastic. However, I wouldn't call it 'uncomfortable' in the least. The keys have a great feel to them when typing.

Also don't let the negative about poor back lighting stop you from buying this keyboard. From a person that uses a computer a lot, I must say that this keyboard is good for both gaming (has many great features) and also leisure computer use and typing (the keys feel great and isn't hard on the wrists). Yes, it's not the greatest back lighting I've ever had, but I prefer the mellow light level (great for dark places and eye strain)and it's still easy to see. After having this keyboard for several weeks, I must say it is the best one I've ever owned. I was surprised by how good the keys felt.

I only have one real issue with it:The rubberized coating on the keys. This was a keyboard for gamers, eh.

This coating is really substandard. Considering that I've had the keyboard for 7 months now , and that the erosion started after about three months, are any of the keys going to be legible in another 7 months.

This is a good keyboard, in most ways. My W, A, and D keys are seriously worn through on the top, to the point that there are no recognizable characters on those keys anymore. You just see the transparent key underneath, along with the "X" shape on the underside of the keys.

I still have 10 and 15 year old keyboards in use with all the keys legible. The color is a nice glossy black, somewhat sleek, back lit in a nice cold blue.

More thought should have been put into this, as it seems to be easy to erode.

Gaming cluster is only A, S, D, and W. They acknowledged it is handicapped beyond the normal parameters of even a fundamental keyboard. Cannot use most key combinations simultaniously other than the ones in the gaming cluster, so beware.

Customer service was helpful in explaining to me that the kboard simply will not work with certain key combinations. Hopefully they will discontinue this model as it apparently does not even work right, by their own admission. I have a few friends that have the same issue as well.

Nice to type on; the keys have a nice 'grip w/o the stick' feeling; flat, silent keys are close together to help increase typing speed; very good illumination under keys, grippy feet on the bottom keep the KB in place pretty well. This is definitely not a gaming kboard. Normal keyboards do not have this issue, only this keyboard. Customer service was very friendly and fast, I really regret they could not do anything with this issue

That means, if you want to press A, W, AND another key at the same time, most likely it wont work. Been through this with customer service, it's not a defect, it's a hardware issue.
